Juxtaposition

From my understanding, Juxtaposition can be define as synonym or antonym being shown through comparison.

Example :

Hot/Cold

It feels good to drink Hot drinks when it is cold outside.

Safe/Dangerous

She feels safe to be in that dangerous place.

Love/Hate

She loves him even if he hates her.

Here is another example of juxtaposition that I could think of :~

Money is life, Life is money.

I live to eat not eat to live.

Associated Mind map

I find this excercise to be interesting. We have to make mind map and choose five words and relate it to the subject. For this excersice, Mr. RadziBedu told us to use mortar and pestle as a subject.

"Imagine you are in the year 20010 and you find a mortar and pestle from year 2010 but you don't know what it is, because the items is not being used anymore so assumed what is the function of the item and how do people use it in year 2010".

The five words that i choose to relate to the item are Death, Pray, Weapon, Treatment and Entertainment.

These is the mind map that I have done. I find that associated mind map has more freedom than doing a logical mind map. It does not have to be exactly related.

Methods of Creative Thinking

This week we got an excercise!

We are required to make a mind map about ourselves.

So what is mind map? Mind map is a tool for us to generate ideas and brainstorming so that we could find the most suitable solution to our problems. Mind map was first introduces by Tony Buzan.

There are two types of mind map which are Logical mind map and Associated mind map.
Logical mind map is connected to the main subject and it must be logical and stereotypical while Associated mind map is something that we can make random word that came through our mind when we mention the subject. It may seem unrelated.

Mind map is a great tool for idea generation. It helps to develops both of our brains.
Not only that, mind map helps to create interest to the audience rather than a long text of words.

To me, a mind map should just be colourful, simple, and short. It should has a focal point so that people's eyes could follow the flow of the chart and understand it easily.

Novelty,Creativity,Innovation and Invention

Based on week 3, this time i learn about Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention.
Here is a quick way to understand what this is all about.

NOVELTY - giving a new quality or new fresh look to an old concept.

CREATIVITY - ability to make new ideas or combining some old idea and make it into something new.

INNOVATION - Is taking an action about the ideas that is being generated. For example, ideas from your mind is written down onto a paper.

INVENTION - turning the ideas into something that you actually use.

You can say it is a process when you want invent or make something.

In my opinion, by understanding this, it will help me to do my works better. Whenever i need to think a concept for my artwork.
